Donaire-VS-Vazquez-Jr
Even with injured fist, Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire was able to score a knockdown on the 9th round that highlights his win over the Puerto Rican Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. A questionable Split decision was called in favor of Donaire in Alamodome, San Antonio, Texas earlier today.
Nonito Donaire believe that his fist was injured somewhere in the 3rd or 4th round. I believe he may have hurt his fist the time he blew an upper cut or when he rallied punches on the ring side which staggered Vazquez in the 3rd round.
Anyhow, the injured fist has not stopped Donaire from dominating the fight and bagging the vacant WBO Super Bantamweight title that makes him a four time champion.
In an interview Vazquez accepted his defeat over Donaire. “He’s real quick. He caught me with some good punches. He surprised me by hitting me when I was off balance. I thought I did pretty well. I was patient, but he is a great fighter.” Says Wilfredo Vazquez Jr.
